If you’re anything like me, September and January always feel like “fresh start” months—a time for reinvention, reflection, and planning for the months ahead.
Years ago, you’d find me at the local bookstore picking out the prettiest planner or journal that I swore I’d actually use (this time, for real!). But, like so many of us, I’d lose steam a few months in, and those half-used planners would gather dust. Eventually, I gave up on buying them altogether—until I discovered the world of digital planning.
From Paper to Digital: My Journey
Long before I owned an iPad, I was already organizing my life digitally. I relied on Google Calendar for scheduling, the Notes app for jotting down random ideas, and later, Notion, which has been a game-changer for managing everything from work projects to meal planning (I could write a whole post about my love for Notion!).
But I missed the creativity of putting pen to paper—laying out my to-do lists, doodling in the margins, and adding cute stickers. That’s when the Apple Pencil and Goodnotes entered my life, and everything changed.
Why Digital Journaling Works for Me
Unlike paper planners, my digital journal doesn’t go to waste if I fall off track for a few months. It’s fully customizable to fit my ever-changing needs. Want to stop tracking workouts and start tracking books? Easy. Need a new color scheme to match your current vibe? Done with a click.
I’ve incorporated vision boards, nightly journal entries, and time-blocking templates into my digital journal. It’s completely flexible and endlessly creative—exactly what I need to keep myself organized and inspired.
The Best Part? It’s Sustainable
For me, digital planning isn’t just about organization—it’s also about reducing waste. No more half-used notebooks or discarded planners. Instead, I can reuse, refresh, and reorganize my digital space as often as I like.
Exciting News: A Custom Planner Is Coming!
I’m currently working on creating a customizable Goodnotes planner to share here on the blog. It’s going to include everything from habit trackers to vision board templates—all designed to help you stay on top of your goals while keeping things fun and creative.
I’d love to hear your thoughts: What would you like to see included in the planner? Drop your ideas in the comments, and don’t forget to follow along for the release!
